Poker is the one game at PH90BET where you play against other people, not the house. That means skill really matters over time. This guide covers Texas Hold'em, the most popular version, in plain language. If you haven't set up your account yet, the login guide and the deposit guide come first.

Why poker is different

In slots and baccarat, the house edge is fixed. In poker the operator takes a small fee (the "rake") from each pot or tournament entry, and the rest moves between players. A disciplined player can beat weaker opponents, but variance is real: even great players have losing weeks.

How a hand plays out

  1. Blinds: two players post forced bets (small and big blind).
  2. Pre-flop: everyone gets two private cards, followed by a betting round.
  3. Flop: three shared cards, then betting.
  4. Turn: a fourth shared card, then betting.
  5. River: a fifth shared card, then the final betting round.
  6. Showdown: the best five-card hand wins.

Starting hands and position

Beginners lose most money by playing too many hands. Start tight:

  • Premium: AA, KK, QQ, AK. Raise from any position.
  • Strong: JJ, 10-10, AQ, AJ suited. Raise from middle or late position.
  • Speculative: small pairs and suited connectors (e.g. 7โ™ฅ 6โ™ฅ). Play from late position when it's cheap.

Position matters because acting last gives you more information. The dealer button is the best seat at the table.

Beginner rule: If you're not sure whether to call, fold. Folding costs nothing; bad calls cost a lot.

Bankroll and table selection

  • Keep at least 20 buy-ins for cash games at your level
  • Choose tables with lots of players seeing the flop, because those are softer games
  • Move down in stakes after losing 5 buy-ins
  • Play tournaments with no more than 2โ€“5% of your bankroll per entry

Our bankroll and budget guide covers this in more detail, and the bonus explainer explains rakeback-style promos.

Poker etiquette online

  • Act in reasonable time; don't stall.
  • Keep chat respectful. Toxic chat can get accounts muted or banned.
  • Never share hands with other players or use banned assistance software.

When you need a break from the tables, try fishing games or the sportsbook. Want to see what else is available? Browse the games hub and the full blog. Read the responsible gaming page and our FAQ for answers to common questions.
